Mission

We aim to promote the work of women, LGBTQIA+, ethnically diverse, neurodivergent, disabled, migrant/immigrant/refugee, working class/low income and mature creators; writers whose voices have historically been excluded or marginalised by the literary world, and wider culture.

We publish high-quality, developed writing that gets to the heart of the issue.

We expect our writers to be self-aware, well-informed and willing to be vulnerable and authentic in their work.

We are committed to challenging prejudice and championing equality.

We want to publish writing that changes the world for the better.

If you care about our mission and would like to help, please consider buying us a coffee to show your support.

History

oranges journal was founded in 2022 by Jade Green, a queer, neurodivergent writer from a working class background. Fed up with the lack of intersectional feminist publications based in the UK, Jade set up the project from her home in Bristol with the aim of providing marginalised writers a platform on which to showcase their work.

It is Jade’s passion and mission to support other writers, serve the writing community, and raise awareness of the issues faced by women and marginalised people.
